Birchbox Review

New Birchbox this month!

Here is what it contains...
-Harvey Prince| Yogini Perfume

-It smells ok. It's fresh but almost smells like a boy to me. It makes sense that I received it because I do yoga but I'm not sure that I would associate this smell with yoga..

Mox Botanicals Lip Butter in Pomegranate & Fig

-I love lip balm. Although I am quite a germaphobe, I really love lip balms applied by finger. Is that weird? Pretty sure it is. So this stuff smells really good, it is light and it gets the job done. I don't really agree with chapsticks because I think they alter the chemistry of your lips to where they don't produce enough moisture, which makes them even more chapped in the end. I think the best way is to drink water but to also use petroleum based lip balms to temporarily reduce chapped lips.

-NUXE | Huile Prodigieuse Multi-Usage Dry Oil

  • I have been on the lookout for a good oil for hair. I have dry hair from color damage and so I have been looking into natural hot oil treatments (heated avocado oil) and store products like Moroccan Oil. I'll go ahead and give this a try before I buy any of those and see if this is worth it.

 -theBalm cosmetics | Mary-Lou Manizer

  • This is an mica(compact powder based) illuminator. It has a gorgeous color, but to be honest I love NARS Illuminator in Orgasm. It is really beautiful, not too watery and not too greasy but I'll go ahead and give this a try.

Kusmi Tea | Detox and Euphoria Teas

To be honest, I haven't tried this yet as I've just thrown away my teapot! I need to get a new one because I am a huge proponent of tea, although I drink coffee more.

Tomboy Style

Brown lace-up boots/Bass
Charcoal and Mocha glitter sweater/Forever21
Skinny magnesium grey pants/Forever21
Moto bracelet/xmas present?

--I really am such a Tomboy sometimes. I just don't wear a lot of dresses and am always wanting to be comfortable.

--I am a huge fan of letting your hair do its natural thing. I mean, I'll curl it when it is freshly washed but the next few days (I wash my hair every three or four days), I'll just let my bed style it and brush my fingers through it. I have a lot of FINE hair. I really wish I had thick hair sometimes but I'll take what I can get. Anyway, I love natural style as far as hair goes. Using a ton of heat on it every day kind of freaks me out actually.

--Also, I've been loving playing with the new colors in my Tarte eye pallet. If you want to try out new eye shadows, I really suggest buying a pallet first, then if you really love one of the colors, you can just buy that in a single.

--Just wanted to say I appreciate the lovely comments I get on here. I didn't realize the fashion/beauty blogging world was so incredibly nice. Too be honest, I could never really say anything negative on anyone's blog anyway. I truly believe everyone is so unique and has a natural beauty of their own!

Thank you again!

Here is an update of my daily going-on's via Instagram. I go to coffee shops a lot, read a lot aannndd love shopping in my mom's makeup drawer (she buys top of the line stuff--it's just not fair!). I am still, after months of being blonde, getting used to my hair... and I trimmed it myself--IT WAS SCARY. But I did it and I actually like how it turned out.

What is everyone's weekend plans? Photoshoots? Being lazy? Going on any trips? I'd love to know!

Thoughtful Tuesday 1: Passion

I snapped this photo on the first day of my favorite season.

What are your passions? I really want to know. I don't hear a lot of people talk about what they are passionate about. It is hard in today's economy to really think about what you love doing rather than what is going to make you beaucoups of money.

I'm thoroughly interested because I have been thinking about this for myself. Do people have passions that are hidden within somewhere inside themselves that they don't know are there? It is difficult to find yourself if you don't explore yourself and I am learning this slowly but surely.

Any thoughts? What is your passion??

Philosopher Series #1

"But I'll tell you what hermits realize. If you go off into a far, far forest and get very quiet, you'll come to understand that you're connected with everything."

-Alan Watts

I have this unrelenting desire to go back in time and meet Alan Watts. He is one of my favorite philosophers and had a unique soul. I listen to his podcasts whilst putting on my makeup and getting dressed for the day. They are utterly thought provoking. If you want to take a small break from music and have a listen to something thought provoking, download the Alan Watts podcast on iTunes. You won't regret it at all.

His talks remind me of how surface-y I can be. Don't get me wrong. I listen to NPR and read up on world/local news, etc but he makes you think about how you are connected to your environment and how your body is not just a tool for living but you are VERY connected to your body. There are times when I go days without having a single thought about the world around me or why I am thinking in the perspective that I am. Doing this creates an even higher level of surface-y behavior and thoughts until I just lose myself.

Sometimes you just need a mini awakening.

--So I have this small obessession with healthy food. When I don't make a trip to Whole Foods or a decently health-based grocery store, I get in this terrible spout of laziness where I eat fastfood, like, twice a day. It is so bad and to be frank, it makes me feel AWFUL. So I spent my friday night at Whole Foods and had the most wonderful lunch today. It was really simple

I call it my Olive & Quinoa Salad

  • Organic Spring Mix
  • 1 cup toasted Quinoa
  • Sliced salad olives
  • flax seed
  • a douse of black pepper
  • red bell pepper
and a choice of dressing. I love olive oil mixed with minced garlic.

So good. I also had it with Coconut's Gone Wild coconut water. So yeah, definitely on somewhat of a health food kick after my fast food hiatus (yuuuck).

I hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday!
